Debut in Pro Kabaddi

In 2015, the opportunity had arrived in the form of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 2. He accepted that call of Bengaluru Bulls and debuted. But Pardeep only got few chances to showcase his skillset due to the presence of phenomenal raiders such as Ajay Thakur and Rajesh Mondal. It was like the rays of the sun are brighter than the moonlight.

But once the right time comes, the moon will shine, right? Likewise, Pardeep Narwal started to shine brighter when he joined the Patna Pirates as a raider in Season 3 of the PKL. With his proficiency in executing Dubki and unpredictable moves, pardeep remained a nightmare for his opponents. He set a new record for the most points scored in a single match by scoring 24 points against Telugu Titans in Season 3.

With his 116 raid points (121 total points), pardeep was declared as the best raider of the season. Pirates won the title and he looked like an apex predator in that season. In the subsequent season, he scored his second-best of his career 115 raid points and was crowned as the Most Valuable Player of the season. Patna Pirates retained their championship in Season 4 of PKL with the help of Pardeep’s consistency and support of his fellow raiders.

Pardeep to Indian Team

Pardeep was selected to represent India in the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup following the consecutive overwhelming seasons in the PKL. India became world champions by beating Iran, 38- 27. In season 5 of PKL, Pardeep Narwal was announced as the captain of Patna Pirates and he made an 8 point memorable raid against the Haryana Steelers, inflicting an all-out. He and his “Dubki” were in the limelight. Pardeep didn’t stop there and went on to score the most points (34 points) in a single match. Infact narwal is the only player recognized as the Most Valuable Player in consecutive seasons.

Setback

While he was happy with his performance, South Korea broke the Indian Kabaddi team’s winning streak in the 2018 Asian Games. The year 2018 not only bad for Indian kabaddi fans but Pardeep also. While representing India again for the 2018 Kabaddi Masters Championship in Dubai, Pardeep had a hard time scoring against Pakistan. As most of his raids were empty in that match, Pardeep spent most of the matches on the bench. But fortunately, India won the tournament with the help of raiders Monu Goyat, Rishank Devadiga and defenders Girish Ernak and Surjeeth Singh.

Comeback

After Ajay Thakur, Pardeep became the second player to cross the 200 point mark in consecutive seasons with 233 points in 21 matches in season 6 of PKL. He was declared the best raider of the season and became the only player after Rahul Chaudary to earn multiple best raider awards. But Patna Pirates got eliminated before the play-offs in that season. In season 7, Pardeep wrote his name in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League when he became the first player to score 1000 points. Throughout his journey, the young man never failed to maintain his consistency.
