When it comes to a tournament like IPL, there must be plenty of awards and recognitions. Isn’t it? It includes an exclusive award for youngsters called Emerging Player Award. You would’ve seen the presence of young players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arjun Tendulkar, Jhye Richardson, Shivam Mavi, Dawid Malan, Ravi Bishnoi, and more in the IPL 2021 mega auction. What is the emerging player award?
The Emerging player award will be given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the player who has demonstrated his best and potential to be a future star of international cricket. As per rule, a player must meet the following criteria to eligible for this awardShould be born after 1 April 1995
*Should have played in 25 or fewer IPL matches as of the start of the season.
*Should have played five or fewer Test matches or 20 or fewer ODIs.
*Should have not won the Emerging Player Award previously.
Players to watch out in IPL 2021
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Even though Yashasvi Jaiswal had a difficult time with the bat in his debut season of IPL, he is still a potential player.
* ICC U-19 World Cup 2020 player of the tournament, with 5 half-centuries (4 consecutive fifty-plus scores) Jaiswal finished the tournament as the top run-scorer with 400 plus runs.
* On his List A (2019-20) season debut, he smashed a double ton and became the youngest player to do this in List A cricket.
* Jaiswal contributed 1386 runs in U-19 ODI cricket accounted for 24.23% of the Indian team’s runs. He struck 30 sixes in his U-19 ODI career.
By looking at his records, he has solid consistency and the ability to strike the ball very well. Hence, Jaiswal, the 19-year-old lad, will be one of the young players to watch out for during the IPL 2021.
Shivam Mavi
Shivam Mavi is very well known for his fast seam and lethal bouncing abilities in the 2018 India U19 World Cup. With his fast bowling abilities, he bowled more than 140 kmph regularly. He made his IPL debut in 2018 but ended up picking only 5 wickets in that season and he had been ruled out for stress fracture in his back since December 2019. He will use this opportunity very well.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Kamlesh Nagarkoti, the Karnataka fast bowler was also a part of the 2018 U19 World Cup. By seeing his potential he was drafted into Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the same year. Unfortunately, he had to spend over a year in rehab due to a back injury. Definitely, he will be a good addition to the KKR pace army in IPL 2021.
Ravi Bishnoi
Emerging star spinner, Ravi Bishnoi is the top wicket-taker in the U19 World Cup 2020 tournament; He picked up 17 wickets from six matches. He created huge interest with his performance among various franchises and landed up in Punjab Kings with a whopping INR 2 crore in the 2020 IPL auction. Kartik Tyagi
Kartik Tyagi, another key member from the U-19 World Cup 2020, has the ability to move the ball around with some good pace. He picked up 11 wickets in the U-19 World Cup 2020. He played for Rajasthan Royals in the last season of IPL and took 9 wickets from 10 matches. He has the potential to become the emerging player of IPL 2021.
Jyle Richardson
Jyle Avon Richardson the tall Australian bowler after returning from a long injury break took 29 wickets in just 17 matches in the Australian Big Bash League (BPL). He bowls slow balls consistently which helped him to pick wickets at regular intervals of the game.
